Pennies from Heaven ~ Volume 19c


And here is Mom's current finale!

Wow!!! Can you believe how quickly Mom finished this lovely quilt? 
I started this many years ago, but still haven't finished mine.
I guess I don't have the same focus as Mom :)


I have to share some close ups


Mom and I decided to tweak it a bit so that it would be solely "winter" and not "Christmasy"
so that we can leave it out all winter.
Well, Mom can.
I need a few more years to finish mine lol!

Pennies from Heaven ~ Volume 18


"Wooly Thistles Table Rug"

Mom never ceases to amaze me by all that she accomplishes!
We took this class with Rebekah together in June and mine has not been touched since.
This certainly inspires me to pick it back up!


Her stitches are impeccable!


and Rebekah's design and wool are so lovely!

Don't you just love all those tongues!
Perfect yet again!

I love how Mom made the tongues different lengths.


Rick rack made a fun trim for a tree.


And the chenille trimmed tree is sweet too!

I had hoped to stitch along with Mom on this, but I only got as far as tracing the pattern :)


I love the layered petals on this flower.


And the little round ones are sweet as well.

Mom worked on these while staying by me and my sister during radiation treatments.

One is just cuter than the next!

Mom designed her own sweet sheep blanket!
A sweet little sheep to keep her company as she stitches...

And believe or not, Mom has had more finishes since I was there in mid-November! 
I better go back soon to take more photos!

Pennies From Heaven ~ Volume 17 & a winner

Sorry that I haven't been around much. I've been spending time down at Mom's. 
So I do have some of her finishes to share!
Then I need to catch up and share another fun class that I took in May.

I love the feather stitching and the buttons!


I had to share Mom's legal case filled with old buttons and pincushions - sew sweet!


And here is a little corner of Mom's sewing room / guest room.
Lucky me, this is what I wake up to when I stay with Mom.


I love all of her "Rebekah L. Smith" finishes - they look so nice together.


I stayed with Mom over Memorial Day weekend while she recuperated from surgery.
We made these wonderful velvet strawberry pinkeeps with tiny mohair mice.
Designed and kitted by Lori Ann Corelis of The Spotted Hare.


We had fun making them together and they are another wonderful souvenir of our Ohio trip.


This is Mom's with the wonderful feather stitching.


I never mastered the feather stitch, so I used the fly stitch.


Walks in Mom's neighborhood are so much different than my walks in downtown Chicago!
Much quieter ;)

I have to share the comment posted by Vicki Jo - it really touched me.
"Right now I am making a quilt from Sunbonnet Sue blocks that my Greatgrandmother made years before I was born. The blocks are made of feedsack fabric -- the girls are mounted on bleached muslin feedsacks -- you can see the words on some of the blocks!"
How special is that?!?! What a treasure!
