Shop Hop~The End & A Giveaway

Our next stop was in Rockford, Illinois where we stopped at this pretty farm.

This sweet farmhouse held treasures inside...

It's the home of Quilter's General Store
and you can find their website here.
The shop was really buzzing with happy quilters - both shoppers and students in classes.

They carry wonderful lines of cotton reproductions and have some sweet antiques displayed
 lending a homey atmosphere.

The inspiration continues...

I was especially thrilled to find this corner -
Lucy Boston Patchwork of the Crosses!
I've been contemplating this for some time and here was an opportunity to try a few blocks!

These came home with me - I would have been more than happy to buy one of each, but I tried to restrain myself ;)

Our final stop was also in Rockford.
I was fading fast, and they didn't allow photos.
You can find their website here.

So since you couldn't come along with us in person, I thought it would be nice to have a little giveaway:

Some squares of the luscious pastel wools, a little paper piecing kit to try, a pair of scissor and a quilt dot magnet.

The scissors were cute with little safety pins on them and the magnet has a pretty quilt design.

This giveaway is open to all and I will select a random winner on Friday, April 8th.
Simply leave a comment on this post or send me an email with "Shop Hop Giveaway" in the subject line and tell me...
Have you tried English Paper Piecing and what do you think of it?

Thanks for joining us on our shop hop!
And thank you to Aileen, Jan and Susan for a fun-filled day filled with happy memories!

who have been called according to his purpose. "

Shop Hop~Lucky 2B Quilting

Our second stop on our shop hop was:
Lucky 2B Quilting in Pecatonica, Illinois.

I just love their sign and that sweet little bunny!

Such a lovely shop!
So clean, crisp and happy!

Inspiration all around.

Of course I was drawn to the wool corner right away!

These bright happy colors just spoke "Spring!"

I love the leaded glass windows and all of the 1930 and 1940's fabrics!

Sure to brighten any dreary day!

This quilt held my attention for a long time - so much to see!

It was fun to see the classes and clubs that they offer.

So beautiful and unique!

Another happy quilt in the making!

The shop owner was so sweet - I'm so sorry that I have forgotten your name!
She was showing us how you don't need to sew to enjoy fabric...
You can knit fabric strips for a gorgeous rug!

It is such a pretty store that I didn't want to leave.
But we had more stops ahead...
You can find Lucky 2B Quilting's website here
and Facebook page here.

While there I purchased these luscious spring wools and some wonderful wool batting that is made in the USA!

The pastel wool immediately went to work in this project:

"Chicks and Eggs" by Carried Away Designs.

They worked out just perfect!

I'll have a giveaway in my next post, so stay tuned...

Shop Hop~Yellow Creek Quilt Designs

What better way to spend National Quilting Day last Saturday,
then to hop in the car with friends and go on a shop hop!

You know you've got some great friends when they start pulling out treat bags and snacks for the ride! Well, it was a few hour drive to our first stop in Pearl City, Illinois.

Yellow Creek Quilt Designs!
It has been several years since my last visit, and I'm sorry that it has been so long!
What a lovely shop!

A shop with lots of character.

And a great selection of wool, wool projects, and specialty threads...

Not to mention fabulous fabric, quilt projects and notions.

I love the antique pieces used for display.

These were absolutely over the top!
A Yellow Creek Quilt Design original made with 1/4 inch and 1/2 inch hexies!
Wow! Absolutely stunning in person.

And this wonderful variation!
Don't you love the barnwood frames? They are made locally for the shop.

There is so much inspiration everywhere in the shop.

And the best news?!
Yellow Creek Quilt Designs has a new book coming out this summer!
Wait until you see the sneak peek that made my heart skip a beat:

Aren't these gorgeous?

Hexies and wool - a fabulous combination!
The book can't come out soon enough :)

So are you wondering what I bought?

Of course I bought the "Stars in the Garden" kit with 1/2 hexies along with the wonderful barnwood frame. A Dots quilt magnet and necklace holder from the hexie and wool design I liked so much and some wonderful Stix fabric packs.

I can't wait to see them again in a few weeks at the International Quilt Expo!

You can find Yellow Creek Quilt Designs here.
Yellow Creek also has a blog here and a great video of their English Paper Piecing technique here.

I'll be back with more stops on our shop hop soon.

A finish & a start

When I saw the most recent Stacy Nash Girls Club kit from Country Sampler,
I thought that it would make a nice companion piece to a kit from last year.

This kit is a sweet little sewing roll.

"Me to Thee Sewing Roll" design by Stacy Nash
I tweaked the colors and the design just a bit as I tend to do :)

I added a little pincushion roll, as Stacy taught in a class some years back...
And added a few heart shaped pins.

I love this sweet design and think it looks perfect with my shoe thread holder from Notforgotten Farm.

Of course, as usual, the pups have shorter legs and morphed into Peanut and Leia.

And I love the heart that Stacy included for the back...

Of course my next project was all kitted and my fingers were itching to start something new!

Now on my hoop is:

No rabbits to be seen yet...

Oh wait! Here's one now!

I think that I am addicted to Lori's thread winders :)

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
    whose confidence is in him.
They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
    its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.”
~Jeremiah 17:7-8

Stay tuned, I will have a little giveaway later this week...

Market night ~ Spring 2016!

A week or so ago it was Market Night at my not quite local needlework store - Inspired Needle Ltd.
As much as I enjoy looking at photos online - things are always better when viewed in person.

So many beautiful creations, tugging me here and there.
(And a few things that I didn't buy are still calling my name...)

Seeing completed models is always inspiring!

This grouping caught my eye time and again.

I really want to  stitch up some Stoneware Pinpillows by Priscilla's Pocket - I've been collecting the patterns.

These are the treasures that I purchased at Market Night.
And since I like to pass around the love...

I purchased Stacy Nash's Limited Edition Tray kit from Country Sampler.

I better get busy stitching!!!

"The next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting,
“Hosanna!”
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
“Blessed is the king of Israel!”
~John 12:12-13
