Liberty Inn... finished!

"Liberty Inn" For The Inspired Needle's "Inspiring Summer Seminar"
design by Paulette Stewart for Plum Street Samplers

You might remember this as a class that I enjoyed in June. You can read about it here.
My version came home from the framer today:

I'm not very good at sticking with large projects, so I did an abbreviated version.

In the end, I chose not to back-stitch the quilt stars on the house.
I preferred the subtle look.

I was very happy with the mats and the moulding that the framer chose.

I'm so happy with the framed picture and the strawberries!
The stitching projects from one summer class completed!

Last night football / marching band season started at the local high school and we were there to cheer them on - especially one very special tuba player - our son :)

Tomorrow will be spent readying my offerings for September.
The newsletter will be sent out to my mailing list tomorrow night.
The offerings will be posted on my blog on Monday.

"You make known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand."
Psalm 16:11

Pennies from heaven...

A few months back, I shared my Mom's first penny rug.
You can see it here.

Mom has taken to penny rugs like a duck to water and has been stitching like crazy ever since.
When my sister and I went down for a visit for our parents' 55th wedding anniversary,
Mom gave a show and tell that took our breath away!

I'm sooo lucky to be her daughter and to be gifted with this great piece!

She didn't like it as it was only her second piece and she said that I could pitch it, if I wanted.
Are you crazy?!?! I absolutely adore this penny rug! The colors are perfect and I love how the pennies spill over the edges.

It lives here now on a little leather ottoman in my living room :)

Next Mom tried blanket stitching and found that she really enjoyed it.
This mat she made for my sister, who was also thrilled.

My mom had asked me to send her some wool to match her sunroom.
And next she created this:

Such pretty, soft colors that looks great with

her chair cushions and swan.

Since Mom wasn't happy with the first mat she made, she created another one for me:

Aren't I lucky!

Next up was a mat for her table of Longaberger shaker baskets - perfection!

Here is a close up of the mat.

For Mother's Day, I sent Mom a wool penny kit.

She stitched it right up.
As she has stitched, she has grown in confidence and in trying new ideas and concepts.

Isn't this piece awesome?!
I love the colors and the concept!

Mom's stitches are so perfect.

And Mom's grand finale.
We all laughed that it was like a fireworks show - each penny rug that Mom pulled out we ooohed and aaahed!

I know that Mom has still been stitching away, I get updates when she starts and finishes a project.
I think she has been bitten by the wool bug! She now even has more than one project going at once. And is planning the next project while working on another LOL.

It's so fun to have a Mom passionate about wool!
Mom, I can't wait for my visit this autumn and to see your next show and tell!
(And Dad you are sure a good sport about Mom's wool addiction :)

"Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
my body also will rest secure,
because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead,
nor will you let your faithful one see decay."

Sales and Market Finds...

Thanks for your great response to my new Etsy listings!

There are still some kits available...

I do have an illness -
A Stitch Stash Addiction.
While I am trying to downsize my Stitch Stash, I am still adding to it!
I hope that I am not alone out there :)

I went to Market Night at The Inspired Needle.
These are the treasures that came home with me:

"Pin Pals" by The Purple Thread - so sweet and tiny!
"Liberty Starlet" by Summer House Stitche Workes - I was thrilled to get this limited edition kit!
Cathy had the model in the shop and it is beautiful in person.

While not the newest designs by Brenda Gervais, I finally caved and purchased "Summer Saltbox".
In 2015, my husband and I will celebrate our 30th anniversary - I was thinking that "Heart of the Home Sampler" is a perfect anniversary sampler...

"Be Ye Thankful" by Pineberry Lane
"Turkey Sausage" by Plum Street Samplers
Two great Thanksgiving designs and how can I pass up a dachshund design?!

And here is the one that I really can't wait to start:

"Spell of the Moon" by Blackbird Designs
Perfect for this time of year!

So much to stitch and so little time!
I'm going to try to be good now...
until Boxwood & Berries that is!

I will praise the Lord, who counsels me;
even at night my heart instructs me.
I keep my eyes always on the Lord.
With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

An Etsy Update

You may recall that early this year Craft Corner (my crafting area in the laundry room) was condemned by the Inspector General (my husband) for being a fire hazard. (You can read about it here.) I am slowly continuing the clean-up. I have come to the conclusion that there is no possible way that I will ever create all that I want to make and that some items need to find new homes where they have a better chance of being created.

So I have decided to list some items in the Supplies section of my Etsy shop.
All are patterns plus wool or linen and some are complete kits.

All are listed at 25 to 50% off original prices.

I accept Paypal, checks and money orders.
If you don't have an Etsy account, but are interested in purchasing, just send me an email at pgagliardi9@hotmail.com

Many are limited editions that are no longer available.

I still really like them all, but am trying to be realistic about what I will make.

This is just a portion of what is available.
Click here to see them all.

I think this weekend I'll take a break from cleaning Craft Corner and do a bit of creating :)

"Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup;
    you make my lot secure.
The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
surely I have a delightful inheritance."

Stitch Club Summer Fun

On Sunday we had our once a month stitch club.
This month we had fun in the sun at Cathy's house.
Cathy and her husband, Gus, are decorators and gardeners extraordinaire!

Don't you just love their gnome garden?
I want to jump right in, but would be content to pull up a chair and just take it all in for a while...

And look at her lovely potting bench!
Gus made it for Cathy last summer.
*sigh* so pretty!

This year Cathy made some great toadstools for around the garden.

These are made out of wok covers. Aren't they clever?!

The inside of their home is just as lovely.

Another pretty fairy garden.

And this little vignette really made me smile.
Thanks Cathy and Gus for a wonderful summer afternoon!
You are such gracious hosts that I can't wait to come back! :)

Since "Liberty Inn" is now at the framers, I have pulled out my projects from Country Sampler Stitch Camp with Stacy Nash. I better hurry and complete them! I've just heard the Country Sampler Boxwood & Berries homework is on its way....
Have you seen the projects for this year? Be still my heart - I am soooo excited! They are really awesome and unique. You can take a peek at them by clicking here and scanning down to near the bottom of the page. If you've been thinking about, don't wait, sign up now! There are only a few spots left...

Keep me safe, my God,
for in you I take refuge.
I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;
apart from you I have no good thing.”

August Mantle and More...

The months continue to fly by...
My mantle is subdued this month - a contrast to the riot of colors outdoors.

A celebration of Summer's Bounty

With a few favorite antique bird prints thrown in.

Antique hemp watermelon and tomato by Prickly Pear.

A collection of velvet tomatoes - the top two by Maggie Bonanomi - the others Winding Vine Design originals.

Delightful corn on the cob - another favorite Summer bounty

More Summer Bounty in the form of tomato pincushions

I bet they each have stories to tell...

I need to take some photos of my vegetable garden.
So instead I'll share some flowers from the garden.

Zinnias always make me smile :)

Love the color combination

Coneflowers are another favorite

And finally after a long wait, the morning glories have started to bloom.

Only God could create such beautiful colors!

But, “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.” For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.
