This and That

It's been a few months since I have had any offerings for sale.
2017 brought some health issues for me.
And with the health issues brought medication that caused many side effects.
And then outpatient surgery.
So my focus has been to get healthy and really increase my sleep.
This unfortunately cuts into my stitching/creating time.
I still have lots of ideas, and hope to get back to creating monthly offerings
once I have a bit more energy and time.

In the meantime, I'm trying to do a little early spring cleaning.

*~Sold. Thank you ever so much!*~

I'm also offering this kit "Spring" by Lynda Hall.

Kit includes pattern, wool, and cotton backing.

Price includes shipping in the continental US. PayPal only.
If interested, contact me at pgagliardi9@hotmail.com
*~Sold. Thank you ever so much!*~

I have also put a few rather special kits on Ebay:

You can find this kit here.

and this kit here.

I'm sure that I will be adding more items to my Early Spring Cleaning Sale.

I have been doing a little bit of slow stitching and hope to share that this weekend.
And I really hope to get a lot of stitching done during the Super Bowl!
(I know I won't be able to stitch during "This is Us"!)

My first finish of 2018

Stitching has been slow going in 2018.
I've been having some vision issues since Christmas
(not that I would let that slow me down lol)
Then some outpatient surgery that took more out of me than I thought
Guess I'm getting older...
Because of both, I've been trying to get more than my standard 5 - 6 hours of sleep
and that is definitely slowing my stitching down!
And finally it's busy season at work.

But I did have a finish and I am pleased with it.
I think it looks so nice on this table in the bay window with my Russian lacquer boxes.

"Winter Cabin"
designed and kitted by Primitive Gatherings

I used my favorite Rustic Moire Wool threads.

I've now moved on to another winter Primitive Gatherings design...
Any ideas which?

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, when you are involved in various trials,
because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance.

A final Christmas 2017 post

Well, our oldest son is back from Japan and we finally celebrated Christmas.
Since our Christmas celebrations weren't over,
I kept stitching Christmas working on these Pineberry Lane designs...
I'd like to finish them as companion pieces, although I haven't quite figured it out exactly yet.

It has been so much fun hearing all about his trip and seeing all of his beautiful pictures.

He loved everything about Japan,
the food, the gardens, the shrines and temples
and the mutual respect that everyone shows one another.

This is a castle that he visited in Osaka

And it is surrounded by a moat.

And a special New Year's treat that he said was absolutely delicious.

One thing he was mezmerized by was their love of KitKats!
They come in so many different flavors!

From all different fruit flavors to green tea to cheesecake.
His favorite is purple sweet potato! It's yummy!

And I just had to share a few special Christmas gifts from my boys:

Can't wait to read through these two great books!

And a butterfly puddler for our butterfly garden - can't wait for Spring!

And treasures from Japan! A wonderful neutral batik fabric - I think it would make a great "path" in an English Paper Piecing Project and/or a background for a wool applique project.

When he was in Kyoto, he found a shop on Google maps that said they sold needles, pins and pincushions. He was following the map, but almost gave up when it took him down a tiny alley. Once through the alley it opened into a tiny courtyard and a tiny shop where a father and son made needles.
He bought me this tiny pincushion!
And did you see the little green paper holder in the first picture?
Inside was this:

A straight pin with a teeny tiny long-haired dachshund just like my beloved Peanut!
Also pictured above was a brochure from the shop written in entirely Japanese with a few pictures.
Thanks for letting me share!

The grass dries up and the flower drops off,

Pennies from Heaven ~ Volume 19c

And here is Mom's current finale!

"Snowy Days"
design by Heart to Hand

Wow!!! Can you believe how quickly Mom finished this lovely quilt?
I started this many years ago, but still haven't finished mine.
I guess I don't have the same focus as Mom :)

I have to share some close ups

Mom and I decided to tweak it a bit so that it would be solely "winter" and not "Christmasy"
so that we can leave it out all winter.
Well, Mom can.
I need a few more years to finish mine lol!

More close-ups to show off Mom's lovely stitching

I just can't get over how quickly she finished this piece!

Here is mine:

In progress, right where I left it about two years ago.

Do you think I will pick it up this winter?
I haven't yet, but Winter isn't over yet...

I still have one more Christmas post to share soon.
I hope that you don't mind...

Now that you have obeyed the truth and have purified your souls to love your brothers sincerely, you must love one another intensely and with a pure heart. For you have been born again, not by a seed that perishes but by one that cannot perish—by the living and everlasting word of God.

Pennies from Heaven ~ Volume 19b

"Christmas Pears"
by Lola Designs 2

More wonderful finishes by Mom!
I love the combination of colors on this one.

And, of course, Mom's stitches are perfect!

Such a timeless design.

"Snow Buddies"

Mom used her own wools and I love the ones that she chose.

I love all the details on this design.

"Plaid Tongue Rug"
design and kit by Cee Rafuse

Couldn't you just look at this rug all day?!
So many wonderful wool plaids!

Mom worked on blanket stitching the individual tongues a lot while she was undergoing treatment.
A piece that she could be productive on when she didn't have the stamina
to focus on something more involved.

A truly amazing piece!

Mom had one more finish that deserves a post all of its own ;)

Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep a clear head, and set your hope completely on the grace to be given you when Jesus, the Messiah, is revealed. As obedient children, do not be shaped by the desires that used to influence you when you were ignorant. Instead, be holy in every aspect of your life, just as the one who called you is holy. For it is written, “You must be holy, because I am holy.”

Pennies from Heaven ~ Volume 19a

Early in December Mom and I did another stitch along.
This time we made
Rebekah L. Smith's "Merry Mittens"

This is Mom's beautiful work.
She used wool that she had on hand. I love her red plaid.

This is my finish.
I used a wool kit by Ewe and Eye Woolens and Such
that I purchased on my trip to Osage, Iowa this past fall.

It is such fun to see how subtle changes make them look so different!

And it is fun to work on them together, even if long distance.
I love checking in and seeing where we each are...

And here are Mom's on display.
I think this is such a great display in her front entryway!

Mom had a lot more finishes to share.
I'll post those soon!

Though you have not seen him, you love him. And even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and rejoice with an indescribable and glorious joy, because you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

A few final finishes of 2017

Thanks to my good friend Jan, I have two more finishes to share!
Jan framed this piece for me!!! I am so thrilled!
This was truly a work of heart - it took 18 months on and off
and has many memories stitched into it along with prayers.

I'm sorry to say that it is not yet hanging on my wall. It measures almost 2 feet by 3 feet and I haven't found just the right spot for it yet...

I love the frame! It is made by Yellow Creek Quilt Designs, who also designed and kitted the quilt. It is made of old barn wood and I love the age and history of the wood!

"Stone Flower Sewing Pocket"
by Stacy Nash for Country Sampler's Girls Club

Jan also finished this beautiful piece for me!
It was definitely beyond my hand stitching skills.
Thank you ever so much Jan for your beautiful finishing!

I love the subtle colors of this piece.
Of course the dogs morphed into dachshunds as they tend to do on my stitches :)

I have lots of finishes of my Mom's to share too.
I think I will break them up into some shorter posts, too.

You greatly rejoice in this, even though you have to suffer various kinds of trials for a little while, so that your genuine faith, which is more valuable than gold that perishes when tested by fire, may result in praise, glory, and honor when Jesus, the Messiah, is revealed.
