December Mantle and more...

 

My mantle for December doesn't have the same primitive antique feel that it has the rest of the year.

Instead a lighted village pays homage to our family's favorite Christmas movie:

Ernie's cab, Uncle Billy and Mr. Potter, too.

Lucky for me, my youngest son has taken over setting up the village.

 

Most of the other Christmas decorations have a primitive or at least vintage feel:

November Mantle & More...

I'm a traditionalist.

I like my turkeys for Thanksgiving decorating and will wait until after Thanksgiving before taking it down and starting the decorating for Christmas :)

I'm still working on Thanksgiving projects on linen and wool as well...

This month's mantle features reproduction paper mache turkeys, 

wooden pumpkins made by my dear sister in law, Joy, 

a faux bittersweet vine and autumn colored lights.

The autumn leaves are all gone now, but I am still enjoying those colors inside.

And although these photos were taken before Halloween, I just had to share...

The corn shocks and indian corn on the front door were grown in my garden.

I was so excited to find these two pumpkin stacks at the local farmers market.

I'm still enjoying them, but this weekend they are destined for the compost pile...

Phew! I almost missed my chance to share my October mantle!

September Mantle and More...

Every time I blink, it seems that a week has past.

Time for my September mantle.

My theme for September is acorns, apples and pears.

I'm usually ready by now for autumn, but not quite ready to decorate with pumpkins and Halloween decor. So these decorations of early autumn harvest help bridge the gap for me...

Yesterday my husband and I celebrated our 29th wedding anniversary.

Is that really possible? Who knew when we first got married the wonderful and incredible years that were to follow :) We are so blessed!
