From Our Hands ~ Creative *Field Trips*

One morning, Mom and I didn't have any classes, so we decided to check out the area.
Yellow Springs itself is filled with wonderful shops and restaurants. but I failed to take pictures.
Before I went, someone sent me an article that Yellow Springs was named Coolest Small Town in America and I see why :) You can read the article here.

Our first stop was Clifton Mills.

Our first sighting in this wonderful historic town was this old Black Smith Shop.

Next was this wonderful covered bridge from 1886.

A wonderful view on the way to the covered bridge.

As we walked on the covered bridge, we had the best view of all:

Historic Clifton Mill on the Little Miami River.

I loved the beams and lanterns on the bridge.

And the water cascading down from the mill - such delightful music to my ears.

So glad that we were able to get a quick look!

Next it was on to Waynesville, Ohio.

Our first stop was Fabric Shack

And their cute Annex across the parking lot.

They had pre-cuts galore!

It was a large shop with aisles of fabrics and the Annex had some wool too.

Mom purchased this neat pattern from an Australian designer and toweling for the background.

And I purchased some fun fabrics.

Then we checked out some of the neat antique shops:

Love this key display with old skeleton keys.

And reclaimed materials for fun kitchen islands.

Our favorite stop was Brass Lantern Antiques and Cheap John's Country Store.
These items weren't for sale, but was more of a museum of the owners' private collection.
And what a sight it was to see:

Like walking into an old general store

With every item in mint condition.

Isn't this spool cabinet incredible?!

And all these needle cases!
Be still my heart!
To own just one...

I did find two little antique treasures to come home with me...

After all that exploring,
it was time to visit another location that was recommended to me multiple times:

Young's Jersey Dairy.

With cows outside and homemade ice cream inside.

I would share a picture of the ice cream creations,
but let's just say that it disappeared to quickly to photograph ;)

All too soon, it was our final day and grand finale ~
The Needle In & Mercantile!
I think it might take more than one post to cover it all!

As you do not know the path of the wind,
or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb,
so you cannot understand the work of God,
    the Maker of all things.
~Ecclesiastes 11:5

Blessings, Patti

Patti, I've loved your blog for a long time; and was so excited to see you post about Young's! Cathy Young is my cousin and is married to John who was instrumental in growing the business. Cathy and her sister Barb traveled five hours two weeks ago for a funeral in our family. She brought several pints of ice cream for the family! So glad you and your mom took the time to visit there.
