Joy & August Giveaway

Joy!
The weather has cooled and we don't need the air conditioning on!
The windows and doors have been thrown open!
I've been able to spend some time in the garden
and the Autumn issue of Primitive Quilts and Projects has arrived!

Even more joy, when I realized that my finish of Jo Ann Mulaly's Scattered Hearts and my little note are published inside!

I thought a copy of this wonderful magazine would be lovely for my August giveaway, but was thinking that a lot of people that read my blog probably already have a copy... so I thought I would add a few other things as well...

Magazine size pieces of my five favorite vintage wool blankets and pieces from three of my cutter quilts, a newish tomato pincushion and strawberry emery and a pair of sweet stork scissors that I picked up in my travels.
Now you'll have some crafting supplies as well as the magazine :)

So tell me... What is your favorite early sign of autumn?
As always, my giveaway is open to everyone, simply leave a comment on this post or send an email to me at pgagliardi9@hotmail.com with "Early Signs of Autumn" in the subject line.
I will post a winner on Saturday, August 18th.

Wishing you a lovely week with early signs of autumn :)

Blessings, Patti

That's a wonderful giveaway. MY first hint of Autumn: the katy- dids (cicadias) in the wet spring across the road. I've been hearing them since last week, and the last two cool nights, they are the music that lulls me to sleep.

I don't have that magazine, so thanks for the giveaway with all the other neat goodies!
I love the cooler temps in the evening. I'm not so crazy about all the leaves because I have to rake them. :)

I love the leaves turning colors but my first sign is when I go out in the early morning I can smell fall in the air. We will take rides to find beautiful leaves and enjoy the cool days - hopefully they get here soon!

Congrats Patti! You really do wonderful work. I am sure the magazine editors were just as excited to show it!

A giveaway too? How sweet! It may sound funny, since I am not a huge football fan, but one of my favorite signs of autumn is the start of football! I enjoy the sound of the games in the background while I craft. :-)

The cooler days, it means I can go for long walks or hikes, which I love. Of course the fact that the leaves are turning and the woods are filled with beautiful colors, doesn't hurt.

Some of the first hints of Fall are Back to School items in the stores, the sunset times getting earlier and earlier and the cool evenings to sleep with the windows open under a great quilt.
Absolutely superb.

Thank you for the opportunity to enter your giveaway. I think the first inklings of fall for me is the cooler evenings. Sitting out on the deck yesterday morning having my coffee, I realized that the 'feel of fall' was in the cool morning air.
Happy day to you!

My favorite sign of early autumn is hearing children talking in excited voices and laughing as they walk by my house to school. (I live two blocks from the elementary school.)

Please include me in your entries for the giveaway. Thanks so much!

I'm probably the only person that doesn't have a copy of this wonderful magazine. I keep saying I'm going to subscribe, so if I don't win your giveaway that will be the first thing on my "to do" list. For me, the first hint of autumn are the Canada geese. On the 1st of August, without fail, they start flying over the house, honking their little brains out, landing in the field behind the houses across the street. They stay for a few months, and then they're off again until next August. A true sign of fall.

Right around the middle of August, the "peepers" start peeping away, day and night. We don't know what they are, but most likely some kind of cricket, since we don't have cicadas in the West. The angle of light shifts, the mound of firewood waiting to be stacked begins to grow, and those peepers... Even though the August weather is our hottest of the year, I know that the end is in sight, and I had better enjoy the sunshine while it lasts, because relief is just around the corner.

My favorite first sign of fall is the little pops of yellow in the trees as those first leaves take the lead in turning those glorious autumn colors. That little pop of "did I just see that" - it always gives me a little thrill :).

Autumn in Arizona means Antique fairs and quilt shows. The desert vegation starts to come alive again after a very long and very hot summer ( today is going to be 109). Nights are cooler but daytime temps can still be in the 90's.
Thanks for a wonderful giveaway.

Wow! Great giveaway. Hope I'm lucky. First sign of Autumn, cooler nights and the fact that I don't have to water my flowers and garden every day. Especially this year. Maybe I have too many flowers? Aah, never!

Got carried away over your article

which has 27,000 acres of color that is amazing in the fall

Pear harvest is just weeks away, they are getting so big on the trees, that is one of our first signs of fall.

I LOVE autumn! I know its here when I can finally sleep at night with the windows open, AC off, and wake up in the morning snuggled in my duvet with the room chilly. That means its time to think about making chili and have football Sundays with friends.

That's a super generous giveaway and I would be glad to enter - thanks for including everyone!
I notice Autumn is in the air on those cooler September mornings when I go into the garden and see large dewdrops and spiderwebs glistening - so tranquil! It reminds me life is slowing down a pace.
Thanks again

Oh, I have so many favorite signs of autumn - growing up in central upstate NY the gorgeous yellow, orange & red maple leaves, apple picking in Mexico, NY & my grandmother's apple pies - I can smell them cooling on the counter. Now living in VA the cooler days & stitching on my porch with my Sophie (toy poodle) cuddling next me. Thank you for bringing back those wonderful memories & the chance to be included in your giveaway. Happy Fall to you.

Congratulations, Patti! Your work is always a pleasure to see and it deserves to be published!
I've never seen that publication before, but it looks like one that I'd love. I've been trying to find a magazine that focuses on more handwork and applique. Perhaps next time I get to go out of town I can look for it.
