February Finishes

2017 Collector's Heart
by Heart in Hand Needleart

I love this phrase and it was so appropriate to stitch this year as we became empty nesters in January.
This design came with the linen, button and beads. The colors are so soft and pretty and I wanted a unique finish. It's hard to capture colors in the harsh winter sun.

I know that it has been a month since I last posted. 2020 started off with a bang!
We moved our youngest out to Los Angeles. We enjoyed our visit, but leaving was so very hard to do. I have some fun to post about that trip, just need to find the time.

About a week and a half later, our oldest had surgery. He is recuperating and doing well. Just two days later our youngest had emergency surgery in Los Angeles.  He had only been there for two weeks and was still getting to know his roommates and the lay of the land. I was back on a plane and headed for LA. Through both surgeries and the 4+ hour plane ride, I cross stitched while praying. Cross stitch provided focus and a productive diversion to get me through it all while praying. When fully finished  I'll attach a tag to the back to remind what was going on while I was stitching. I was surprised at how well he was doing when I got out there. He is a strong young man who had been through a lot as young child. It did my heart good to see him and made me more comfortable returning home, although it was still hard. He is back to school and work and hopes to be fully recovered next month.

In the past week, both my husband and I have come down with a bad case of the flu. We are getting better and hope that the first two months are not a preview of the rest of the year,
but that things will calm down at least a bit.

After finishing my advent candle wraps, I decided to continue stitching a special project on Sundays.
I've started working through the 2019 Quaint Country Ladies kits.

I finished stitching the first kit and just need to fully finish.
Isn't the backing fabric just perfect?!

I hope that your 2020 has started in a quieter form :)
and I hope to be back soon!

Is anyone still there???

"In Full Bloom"
Sewing Pocket and Pinkeep
for Dyeing to Stitch Quaint Country Ladies Club

Is anyone still there to read this?
Gosh it has been a month since I posted!
I have been doing a lot of traveling this summer and now am in catch up mode both at work and at home. I have been posting on Instagram almost daily. Do people still read and follow blogs? I miss my blog, but Instagram is quick and easy. I have also been having troubles getting photos from my phone to my blog. I'm debating what to do...

I had a finish on Labor Day!
As you can see, I stitched this in 2018 - as soon as the kit arrived, but I did not fully finish.
I guess that I can count this as a Stitch From My Stash completion!

I love the lining fabric on the sewing pocket!

And on the back of the pinkeep as well!

I do have a few things that I simply must share before I decide whether to continue my blog or not.
So if you are still out there, please stay tuned!!! I will be back soon!

This is what the Lord says—

A little Stitching Progress

It's been a while since I have had a finish to share.
I'm still stitching each day on the train/bus/boat during my daily commute to work,
but haven't had time on the weekends for fully finishing my projects.
I need a Pineberry Lane finishing day!

A Bushel & a Peck is an available Pineberry Lane design.

The other two are from the Quaint Country Ladies Club -
a club with Dyeing to Stitch of exclusive Pineberry Lane designs.
I'm so glad that I joined!!!

Are you a flosstube fan?
These are videos by and for cross stitch lovers on YouTube.
My favorite is The Real Housewives of Cross Stitch -
the mother / daughter team of Priscilla & Chelsea. Love them!

I loved a piece stitched by Chelsea and finished by Priscilla
and decided that I had to stitch it right away:

"The Old Red Barn" by Little House Needleworks
It reminded me of the little plaque that I painted in 2000.
(I made the velvet apple pincushions some years back as well.)

The design was created for pumpkins, but I decided to switch it up a bit to focus on apples.
I also switched up a few of the colors and included  them in the pic as well.

Here you can see my color changes a little bit better.

I'm thrilled with this piece and can't wait to fully finish it!

Priscilla and Chelsea are having a stitch along of this great design -
"Pumpkin Hollow Farms" by Little House Needleworks
You can follow along on Instagram by searching for the hashtag #pcpumpkinhollowfarms.
Priscilla also has a great blog here and both Priscilla and Chelsea are on Facebook and Instagram.

You can also now follow me on Instagram. I usually post there a couple of times a week.
You can find me at @windingvinedesigns.
I will continue to blog, too.

Priscilla also posts recipes including one for the Best Chocolate and Peanut Butter Cookies,
I had to bake them immediately ;)

A few finishes of my own

It's finished!
"Wool & Flax"
for Dyeing to Stitch's "Quaint Country Ladies" Club

along with a sweet sheep threadkeep by Lori Brechlin for Notforgotten Farm

Last year I picked up some antique tatting in Iowa and thought it would look so nice with this piece.
Wendy of Pineberry Lane had a wonderful finish designed for this piece - a  lovely pouch with the perfectly coordinated polka dot fabric, but I had a different idea...
So I made it into a pillow to display with...

Some little Putz sheep and one lead sheep.
I can't wait for Wendy's next Quaint Country Ladies Club kit!

I also finished "Wooly Flower Bag"

I love the color of the hand-dyed linen bag.
It was a quick stitch and now I am so excited to use it.
I'll be doing that soon as Mom and I will be leaving on a trip in a matter of days!

I'm hoping to have a few more posts before we head out...

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
