A final Christmas Finish

"Singing on its Way"
by Blackbird Designs
from their book
"The Bells on Christmas Day"

I pretty much bought this book to stitch this piece :)
I fell in love the moment that I saw it.

The colors are so soft, it's hard to capture them in a photo.
That was my final Christmas stitching for 2019.

Now I've moved on to snowmen
for January 2020 :)

When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.
But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.

Happy St. Patrick's Day ~ a wee bit late

"Little Shamrocks"
by Pineberry Lane

Shamrock thread holder by Notforgotten Farm

Finished in the nick of time!

I love to combine all forms of needlework that I love ~
Cross stitch and English Paper Piecing on the front and a little wool applique on the back.

I am so happy with my Stitch from My Stash finishes that I completed so far this month.
I think that they look so sweet together.

Whenever I see daffodils at the market,
some must come home with me.

It makes me think that Spring might arrive after all...

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace
as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope
by the power of the Holy Spirit.

March Stitch from my Stash Projects

My Stitch from my Stash projects are all set for March! First up are:
"Little Shamrocks"
by Pineberry Lane

I kitted these up last spring, but then never started them.
Hopefully one or two will be fully finished by Saint Patrick's Day!

 "Have Ye Any Wool?"
by With Thy Needle and Thread

I bought the pattern and kitted this at the Nashville Market night last year.
Since Nashville 2019 is going on right now, I thought I should get this started!

My wool project for March is:
Lamb on a Hill Sewing Box
by Lori Ann Corelis
this is another class project that I took at From Our Hands 2018.

It shouldn't take long to complete.

I started Pineberry Lane's "Sweet Clover Girl".
It should be a quick stitch!

I'm enjoying my Notforgotten Farm thread keep while I work on this project :)

Right now three things remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Another Valentine Finish

When I revealed my February Stitch From My Stash projects,
I shared this Wooly Heart unfinished class project by Rebekah L. Smith.
I was so glad I picked a smaller project after my large "Snowy Days" from last month.

"Wooly Heart Pocket"
by Rebekah L. Smith
From Our Hands workshop 2018

Here is the finish!
The wool forms a little wooly pocket to add flowers, valentines, etc.
The beautiful comb painted heart is by Peter & Lori Brechlin of Notforgotten Farm.

It was a fun quick stitch and I am not sure why I hadn't finished it sooner.

I used Rustic Wool Moire threads in Rebekah's standard colors
and enjoyed the specialty stitches.

For those that follow me on Instagram,
you know that I was hospitalized unexpectedly for three days this past weekend.
I was diagnosed with shingles on Friday. The shingles are on my face and scalp. They were moving towards my eye and two friends in the healthcare field suggested I go to the ER. Once there, they realized that I am on immune suppressants and admitted me for IV antivirals.
I am at home now with my comfort pups :)
Thanks so much for all of your well wishes! They mean so much!

Love never is resentful;
is never glad with sin;
she’s always glad to side with truth,
and pleased that truth will win.

She bears up under everything;
    believes the best in all;
there is no limit to her hope,
    and never will she fall.

A Happy Thanksgiving!

Wishing you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving!

"Autumn Fowl"
by Rebekah L. Smith

As soon as I saw this, I knew that I had to stitch it immediately!
Lucky for me, it is available as a pdf and I could start stitching immediately.
You can find Rebekah's website here.

"Thanks"
by Lori Brechlin of Notforgotten Farm

I stitched this piece several years back. It was part of a pattern from her club. I never fully finished it, so I finally did this year. :)

While these two were finished in the nick of time, there were a few that didn't quite make it...

"Grateful, Thankful, Blessed"
by With Thy Needle and Thread

after midnight, this one will be put away until next fall when stitching will resume.

and unfortunately
"Gobble Gob"
by Plum Street Samplers
will join it. I think that I was distracted by so many wonderful Thanksgiving designs!

Today we had much to be thankful for.
Mom has moved into a lovely home 30 minutes away rather than 3 hours.
She hosted her first holiday in her new home and our family is thankful that we were all together giving thanks that she is still in remission.
Mom has been busy stitching and I really need to post a new edition of Pennies from Heaven - as soon as we have some good lighting for picture taking.

While we are grateful for all that we have, I do have a request.
My sister-in-law, Joy, has had a set back and will be going through chemo for the next six months.
Prayers and positive thoughts are greatly appreciated!

I hope that you are having a Happy Thanksgiving filled with blessings.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise.
Thank him and bless his name, for the Lord is good and his gracious love stands forever.
His faithfulness remains from generation to generation

Usefulness

"Usefulness"
strawberry threadkeeper by Notforgotten Farm

I started stitching this as soon as it was released in 2015.
So happy to complete it this year during strawberry season.

That sweet little strawberry caught my eye immediately!
Such a unique little addition!

I used the same long stitches to finish off the seams.

Strawberry season started wonderfully this year - lots of rain and cool sunny days brought back thick plants with tons of flowers.
But sudden steady high temps, brought it all quickly to a halt and we only harvested about 5 pounds.

Still enough for one batch of Strawberry Lush - the dessert of choice for the men here on Winding Vine.

Therefore God also highly exalted him

and gave him the name that is above every name,

so that at the name of Jesus
every knee should bend,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

A Quick Trip to Galena, Illinois

Just four days after returning from From Our Hands ~ Creative in Ohio,
I was on another quick trip.
Our Stitch Club went for a long weekend to Galena, Illinois.
I think that the last time we went as a group was 2011 - way too long!

We rented a house in Eagle Ridge Territory and were able to enjoy these lovely views.

The weather was so nice, that I was even able to stitch outside for a while.

We all worked in a variety of mediums
from wool applique and penny rugs to English Paper Piecing and knitting.
I loved the feedsack print Lucy Boston squares!

I even had a finish or two.

"Rabbit Warren"
complete with her little bunny thread board

I started this a few years back and am happy to have it finished to enjoy this spring.

I also finished this:
Spring Robin Sewing Kit

I bought this kit many years ago.

It has several needle pages.
On one page I added a heart pocket for my scissors.

And on the back cover is a blue robin egg pin keep.

We stopped to shop at Lucky Quilt Company in Pecatonica, Illinois on the way.
Aren't these so sweet? Do you see the tiny angel zipper pull? And the pretty flowered tape measure?

And we stopped at Yellow Creek Quilt Designs where I had fun spending a gift certificate that I won last fall. I love the leather and aluminum cross bracelet. And who can have too many scissors?! Mom and I tried out the Tim Holtz scissors this past weekend and they are fabulous!

On the way home I thought I would stop at a favorite antique mall. My memory did not remember too clearly and it was 15 miles out of the way. What's 15 miles (actually 30 miles there and back) when antiquing. At least I found something after that drive ;)

Oops a favorite photo bomber of mine - Hi Peanut!

I found this fabulous carved wood pin cushion and some wonderful needle packs.
The large package of crewel needles says "War economy pack".
I did some online research and found this exact pincushion - antique treen 19th century pair of walnut miniature pin cushion bellows - English circa 1870.
The tip is broken off, but I don't mind.

Here you can see where the pins are stored.

Ladies, we must go back again next year!

There is still time to enter my little giveaway. You can find it here.

planted in the house of the Lord,
they will flourish in the courts of our God.
They will still bear fruit in old age,
they will stay fresh and green,
proclaiming, “The Lord is upright;
he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.”

From Our Hands ~ Creative 2018 ~The Classes

Mom and I took the same classes this year at From Our Hands ~ Creative.
And the classes were amazing!
We didn't finish any of our class projects while there,
and unfortunately I haven't been able to pick mine up since I've been home.

Our first class was this wonderful wooly sewing book with Rebekah L. Smith

Our second class was this beautiful Wooden Heart Wool Pocket.
And get this - the heart was made by Peter Brechlin
and painted by Lori Brechlin of Notforgotten Farm!!! I was so excited!

Our last class was Lamb on a Hill Sewing Box with Lori Ann Corelis.

Isn't this so sweet?! I love the beautiful Lehay Shaker Box, too.

This year, we also had optional mini classes at night.

I took this gorgeous bracelet class with Kelsey Anilee Smith.
It also is not yet completed. I can't wait to finish it and wear it!
Kelsey has these kits available in her Etsy Shop. You can find it here.

And my final mini night time class was this Pear Needlebook with Stacy Nash.
Mom took it too. and guess what?
We finished it!

I was so happy with it, but thought it was missing one little thing...

Seeds on the inside :)

I'll share my finishes as I complete them. Hopefully I can pick them up again one day soon!

I still have a few more posts to share before my little giveaway, so stay tuned.

Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else.
