Nashville Market Night 2019

Last week I attended Nashville Market Night at Inspired Needle in Lemont, IL.
I am sorry to say that I didn't take any photos in the shop  this year.
There were so may wonderful things to choose from, that I was like a kid in the candy store and was constantly distracted by all the stitchy goodness!

As you can see I had to buy all the new Blackbird books!
Each one is a treasure trove of ideas and I really love to look through their books when I am too tired to stitch :)

I also purchased these two seasonal designs.
Sew sweet!

You know that I HAD to purchase The Scarlett House's Morning Walk and
you can probably guess that the dogs will get shorter and longer ;)

The surprise find for me is "Happiness is Homemade" chock-full with both recipes and small cross stitch designs! What more could you ask for?! I already found a few must stitch small designs :)

And the Ode to the Ort box kit was tops on my list after missing the ort basket last year.
I think that this might be the first thing that I stitch from market, but first...

I need to finish up my Stitch from Stash projects for March.
Here is a little start - I better keep my fingers moving!

I did finish my wool project for March and I am absolutely thrilled with it!
Wait until you see...

For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor anything above, nor anything below, nor anything else in all creation can separate us from the love of God that is ours in union with the Messiah Jesus, our Lord.

February Offerings

Greetings!
February is here and with it our first major snowstorm of the year. A perfect day to stay in, watch the Super Bowl, eat junk food and stitch J. For February I like to celebrate the month of love, but I like my offerings to be simple enough to enjoy all year long.

My first offerings are pillows featuring cross stitch and favorite pieces from my antique coverlet collection. Both pillows are based on a sweet design by Jenny Hoffman of Country Rustic Primitives. These pillows are backed with a coordinating brushed cotton stripe. As with all of my creations, they are completely hand stitched. They measure approximately 3 ½ by 7 1/2 inches.

~*Coverlet Pillows are sold. Thank you ever so much!*~

My other offerings are “Keys to Love”.  These fobs have a firm wooden base inside and are backed with wool. They are based on a Niky’s Creations design. They measure approximately 2 by 3.5 inches. The antique skeleton key can be removed if you prefer to attach it to your favorite sewing scissors.
~*Both are sold. Thank you ever so much!*~

If you are interested in purchasing anything, just send me an email at:
pgagliardi9@hotmail.com
I can send a PayPal invoice or I accept checks and money orders.

Now it is time to start cooking for the Super Bowl!

June Roses

I thought I better hurry up and write and publish this post before midnight :)
These are my "Knock Out" Shrub Roses and they never fail to delight.

They bloom constantly starting in June and sometimes, if the weather cooperates, they will bloom into December.

This is one of my carpet roses and I failed to see the tiny bee until now :)

These are my newest shrub roses, inspired by roses that I saw on a trip to California.
I love their vibrant color and deep green foliage. They are surrounded by lambs ear and I love the combination of colors. I'll need to take another photo of the full effect.

I have some roses inside, too. Including this miniature faux rose that I think looks so real.

And an older design. I can't recall the designer.

I just realized that I don't have any roses in wool applique. Hmmm I think that I will need to remedy that...

May Day Offerings

Happy May Day to you!
Unfortunately, here in Chicago it feels more like March than May as it was only in the 40's, dreary and rainy today.

Somehow this month has gotten away from me. I’ve been undergoing physical therapy for my knees and it (along with the home exercises) is seriously interfering with my stitching time ;) but I squeeze it in whenever I can. I did manage to create a few small offerings.

My first offering is a charming key fob. This Nikyscreation design was created from a kit sent all the way from Italy. Home Sweet Home key fob measures 2.5 by 3 inches and is backed with a coordinating soft striped flannel. It is filled with crushed walnut shells for weight and then edged with a hand-dyed chenille trim. The little house is accented with a wool roof. A vintage lace ribbon is used to attach the antique brass skeleton key to the fob. The key can be removed if you would prefer to use it as a scissor fob for your favorite sewing scissors.
Home Sweet Home key fob is offered at $22 plus shipping.

My next offering this month is Spring Lily Pinkeep ~ based on a lovely design by Jenny Hoffman of Country Rustic Primitives. I love Lilies of the Valley and they usually bloom in May here on Winding Vine, but this year I am thinking they will be quite delayed as the sprouts are barely appearing. This cross-stitched piece on blue hand dyed linen is backed with the same green and tan checked flannel as appears on the front. It is accented with vintage baby cream rick rack and a little vintage skate key attached with a corsage pin. It is filled with crushed walnut shells for a nice weight. As with all of my creations, it is completely hand stitched. It measures approximately 3 ½ by 4 inches.
Spring Lily Pinkeep is offered at $22 plus shipping.

I discovered a sweet vintage seasonal embroidery at an estate sale some time ago. With it, I created a pinkeep to celebrate Spring. It is backed with a vintage cotton print fabric from the same era. It is completely hand sewn and filled with clean sawdust for a wonderful vintage feel. Vintage Spring Pinkeep measures 4 by 6 inches.
~*Sold. Thank you ever so much!*~

To purchase any of the items above, please email me at pgagliardi9@hotmail.com
I can send a PayPal invoice or I also accept checks and money orders.

The World of Small Club Kit #1

"World of Small Club Needlebook"
design by nikyscreations

What a treat it is to receive a little package from Niky with such a sweet little kit in it ~ coming all the way from Italy!
I have finished kit #1 just in time as kit #2 has now arrived.

The top photo shows the front of the needlebook. (Don't tell anyone, but I made a mistake when centering it, so I added the three tiny mother of pearl buttons so that it isn't so obvious. shh...)
The bird is the back of the needlebook.

And here is the inside:

I love the tiny print cordouroy.
You can find Niky's blog here.
And her lovely Etsy shop here.

On Mother's Day, my husband, sons and I went down to historic Prairie Avenue to see the wonderful old mansions where Chicago's elite lived in the late 1800's. Only about 20 still remain standing. The neighborhood sat in incredible neglect and despair for almost 90 years, but in the past 25 years has seen a wonderful rebirth.

The Glessner House, designed by H.H. Richardson, is now a museum. We went on a walking tour, but photos are not allowed inside. Almost all of the furnishing and artwork are originals from the house ~ truly a wonderful example of the Arts and Crafts movement. Beautiful William Morris wallcoverings and textiles and lots of quartersawn oak.
You can read more about it on their blog:

After our walking tour, we had dinner in a lovely little Italian restaurant near my son's dorm.
I received these beautiful yellow tulips and a handmade card - my favorite!
I also received two tickets to see the Goat Rodeo Sessions featuring Yo-Yo Ma and Chris Thile at Ravinia this summer! I cannot wait!
Lest you think my family is too perfect, I asked who would be going to the concert with me. The response, they will draw straws and the short straw will come with :)
Nonetheless - I am blessed!

I have to share my favorite Goat Rodeo Sessions song with you here.

"because of your father’s God, who helps you,
because of the Almighty, who blesses you
with blessings of the skies above,
blessings of the deep springs below"
~Genesis 49:25
Blessings to you, Patti

A winner?

Niky of Niky's Creations recently sponsored a fun contest. She offered a free design and invited people to complete it and send photos to her. Then she randomly selected three finishes to win a prize.
I finished my rendition of "Evergreen" as a little needlebook.

I added a few wool squirrels to the inside for storing pins and needles.
I didn't win, but now that I think of it I did...

As I have this lovely needlecase to enjoy!
Be sure to stop by her blog to see the other finishes - wow! The creativity is just amazing!
Blessings, Patti
