~March Offerings~

Greetings! I am having fun so far on my year long challenge of repurposing antiques!

My first two offerings this month feature old whisk brooms picked up at estate sales. Both whisk brooms are based on designs by Lori Brechlin of Notforgotten Farm. The whisk broom sleeves are backed with sweet calicos that I picked up on a recent road trip and feature a wool applique heart. The whisk brooms measure approximately 10.5 inches by 4.5 inches.
~*Both brooms are sold. Thank you ever so much!*~

My final offering this month is based on a design by Jenny Hoffman for Country Rustic Primitives. Since my name is Patti, I felt the need to have at least one St. Patrick’s Day offering! This pinkeep pillow measures approximately 5 inches by 5 inches.

It is backed with the same cotton print as appears on the front and features a wool heart shaped pocket for your scissors with a ribbon tie to keep them safe and a wool four leaf clover for luck. This pillow, like all of my offerings, is completely handsewn.

~*January Offerings*~

Welcome to 2017!
I am ready for a new year and I hope that it will bring peace and blessings to all!
My offerings this month sold immediately, but I still wanted to share them here…

My first Snow themed offering this month is based on a design by Country Rustic Primitives. It is accentuated with my favorite antique coverlet and a wonderful cream chenille rickrack trim that I found in California – perfect for conjuring images of fluffy snow! It measures approximately 6.5 inches by 7 inches tall. It is backed with the same antique navy and cream antique coverlet. This pillow, like all of my offerings, is completely handsewn.
~*“Snow” cross stitched pillow is sold. Thank you ever so much!*~

My other offering this month features a simple sentiment appliquéd using an antique ivory wool blanket applied to the antique coverlet background as used above. Completely hand-stitched, it is backed with the same antique coverlet. It measures approximately 4 by 9 inches.

Ideas are already flowing for next month...

June Offerings

Greetings!
Strawberry Season has arrived early here on Winding Vine. I think that this is the earliest that I have ever harvested ripe berries from my tiny city plot. I’ve already picked over two pounds and even made some divine Strawberry Cheesecake Lush! Strawberry Season has also inspired this month’s offerings…

My first offering is “Strawberry Season” Thread Board based on a design by Country Rustic Primitives. This piece is both lovely to display and useful. I added amber mother of pearl rings for holding threads on one side. On one ring I have tied on a sweet tiny little velvet and wool strawberry emery complete with black pin “seeds”. You could easily tie it to a pair of sewing scissors as a fob, if you like.

On the back I included an army green wool heart pocket for embroidery scissors (not included) and a brown ribbon tie to keep them safe and secure. There is also a red and army green wool strawberry needle and pin keep complete with back pin “seeds”. It has a base of thin mat board, so that it is stiff and can be propped up on a shelf or table.
It measures approximately 5.5 inches by 8 inches (not including the rings) and is completely handsewn.
~*Sold. Thank you ever so much!*~

Antique Strawberry Patch is a Winding Vine Designs original one of a kind creation. It is a cluster of five strawberries each made of some of my favorite antique fabrics. The strawberries are completely handsewn. It measures approximately 12 inches when hanging with the biggest berries “weighing in” at 2 by 3 inches and the smallest at 1 by 2 inches. They are tied together with vintage seam binding ribbon and an antique mother of pearl buckle.
~*Sold. Thank you ever so much!*~

I’ve made two pinch pockets this month as well. Both are made from vintage fabrics – a gauzy white window valance panel and an embroidered table cloth. These pinch pockets are perfect for a small spool of thread, a small pair of embroidery scissors, and even a few other notions. They each measure approximately 4 inches across and 3 inches tall. Items are stored safely inside until you gently press the two corners together to open.

The pinch pockets are lined with coordinating wool.
As with all of my offerings, they are completely handsewn.
These Vintage Strawberry Pinch Pockets are offered at $25 each.
~*Both are sold. Thank you ever so much!*~

Faith & Blessings

Since December, I have been serving on a special committee at our church trying something brand new...

A chance to celebrate the artists in our congregation and do a bit of fundraising as well.

Friday night is an Art Gala & Show ~ to see the many works of art
along with a silent auction that includes donated works of art.
I'll be exhibiting my needlework and our oldest son will be exhibiting his paintings, sketches and sculpture.

These are my donations:

Faith ~ based on a design by Country Rustic Primitives
and stitched by me.

The pillow is completely stitched by hand
and features linen rickrack and antique shell buttons.
Bidding begins at $20. (valued at $49)

"Blessings Abound" table runner ~ an original design by Winding Vine Designs.

It features a base of an antique Army blanket and
letters from an antique Victorian era wool paisley piano shawl.
It is completely hand stitched.
Bidding begins at $30. (valued at $70)

When the Art Show is over and the auction winners are heading home,
we will convert the space for Day 2.

On Saturday we will be hosting opportunities to create art yourself with Make and Take workshops in the morning, a box lunch and Sip & Paint in the afternoon.
I'll be teaching little wool applique mug rugs.

It will be a lot of work, but I am truly looking forward to celebrating our faith and our blessings through art in all forms!

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written:
“For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,
neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,
neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation,
will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

March Offerings

Since pinch pockets seem to be the big draw right now, I decided to create three this month… These pinch pockets are perfect for a small spool of thread, a small pair of embroidery scissors, and even a few other notions. They measure approximately 4 inches across and 3 inches tall. Items are stored safely inside until you gently press the two corners together to open. As with all of my offerings, they are completely handsewn.

~*All pinch pockets are sold. Thank you ever so much!*~

"March" design by The Sampler Girl

"Primitive Spring ~ Lilies of the Valley" design by Country Rustic Primitives

"Primitive Spring ~ Bluebells" design by Country Rustic Primitives

I also have a few other items looking for a new home.

These sweet pillows were not made by me. Anne Brown is the cross stitch designer behind The Goode Huswife patterns. Anne hand painted and created these pillows many years ago. These pillows measure 6 1/2 by 8 inches. I am offering these pillows at $30 each or all three for $85.

The center is a wonderful painted canvas.

The detail and coloring is so pretty.

I still love them, but I'm just running out of room :)

April Offerings

Greetings!
Well, it’s a typical Spring in Chicago – sunny and spring~like one day and cold and snowy the next. I won’t complain too much, as the spring flowers are slowly inching up. Spring flowers and rabbits are the inspiration for this month’s offerings. Since Easter is early this year, I created offerings that you can display all through the season…

My first offering is a pillow based on a sweet design by Primitive Stitchin’ by Shelly Auen. “Among the Pussy Willows” is accented with handmade chenille pussy willows tied with a hand dyed ribbon. As with all of my creations, it is completely hand stitched. This pillow measures approximately 4.5 by 9 inches.
~*Sold. Thank you ever so much!*~

My other offering is “Spring Rabbit’s Cart”.  Featuring a design by Jenny Hoffman of Country Rustic Primitives, it measures approximately 3.5 by 11 inches. This pillow is accented with handmade wool violets to match those in the cart. It is completely hand stitched.

February Offerings

Greetings!
February is here and with it our first major snowstorm of the year. A perfect day to stay in, watch the Super Bowl, eat junk food and stitch J. For February I like to celebrate the month of love, but I like my offerings to be simple enough to enjoy all year long.

My first offerings are pillows featuring cross stitch and favorite pieces from my antique coverlet collection. Both pillows are based on a sweet design by Jenny Hoffman of Country Rustic Primitives. These pillows are backed with a coordinating brushed cotton stripe. As with all of my creations, they are completely hand stitched. They measure approximately 3 ½ by 7 1/2 inches.

~*Coverlet Pillows are sold. Thank you ever so much!*~

My other offerings are “Keys to Love”.  These fobs have a firm wooden base inside and are backed with wool. They are based on a Niky’s Creations design. They measure approximately 2 by 3.5 inches. The antique skeleton key can be removed if you prefer to attach it to your favorite sewing scissors.
~*Both are sold. Thank you ever so much!*~

December Offerings

My first offering this month is a Log Cabin Christmas Pillow. A design by Country Rustic Primitives, this piece measures approximately 5 by 7 inches. It features a soft windowpane flannel on both the front and back and a rusty metal snowflake for charm. Perfect with greens in a wooden bowl or tucked on a shelf.
~*Sold. Thank you ever so much!*~

I am also offering two older pieces for sale this month.

“Shepherds of Old” is a Shepherds Bush design that has been professionally custom framed.

Done in subtle neutral colors in the traditional Shepherds Bush look, this piece measures 7.5 by 10.5 inches.

The frame is cream with subtle gold accents.
Once completed, I realized that I didn’t have the right place to display it.
“Shepherds of Old” is offered at $50.

My final offering is a Mill Hill Design stand up.

It features metallic threads, crystal and ceramic treasures, and glass beads.

It is backed with a solid red cotton and has a cardboard base to assist in standing. Red and green cording is sewn along the seam.

June Offerings

Greetings!

The bees are buzzing here on Winding Vine and summer is almost here! My offerings this month are in honor of those busy bees working hard in my strawberry patch and heading to the raspberry bramble. (BTW, I just picked my first strawberries of the season today!)

My first offerings this month are two pillows inspired by a sweet design by Eszter of Sub Rosa Design from Budapest, Hungary. These cross-stitched pillows feature a soft green flannel and a wool appliqué bee with tiny glass seed bead eyes. They are backed with a gold and brown plaid flannel. As with all of my creations, they are completely hand stitched.
The Early Bee finds the Bee Skep measures approximately 3 ½ by 5 ½ inches.
The Early Bee finds the Flowers measures approximately 4 by 6 inches.
Pillows are offered at $22 each plus shipping. Please specify design when ordering.

My next offering is Bee Garden Pillow Tuck based on a Jenny Hoffman design for Country Rustic Primitives. I changed the colors on this design to match those I used on the other two pillows – I think they all look so sweet together in a large wooden bowl. This pillow features the same fabrics and little wool appliquéd bumble bee. Bee Garden Pillow Tuck measures approximately 4 by 8 inches and is completely hand stitched.
~*Sold. Thank you ever so much!*~

My final offering this month is Bizzy Bee Pincushion based on a design by The Little Red Hen. Hand dyed wools are appliquéd to a soft flannel base and the little bumble bee faces are hand stitched. The backing is a coordinating brown and gold windowpane flannel. I love the honeycomb shape of this pincushion! Filled with crushed walnut shells for a nice weight & feel.
~*Sold. Thank you ever so much!*~

Hoping that you are enjoying sunny days in the garden watching the busy bumble bees!

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

May Day Offerings

Happy May Day to you!
Unfortunately, here in Chicago it feels more like March than May as it was only in the 40's, dreary and rainy today.

Somehow this month has gotten away from me. I’ve been undergoing physical therapy for my knees and it (along with the home exercises) is seriously interfering with my stitching time ;) but I squeeze it in whenever I can. I did manage to create a few small offerings.

My first offering is a charming key fob. This Nikyscreation design was created from a kit sent all the way from Italy. Home Sweet Home key fob measures 2.5 by 3 inches and is backed with a coordinating soft striped flannel. It is filled with crushed walnut shells for weight and then edged with a hand-dyed chenille trim. The little house is accented with a wool roof. A vintage lace ribbon is used to attach the antique brass skeleton key to the fob. The key can be removed if you would prefer to use it as a scissor fob for your favorite sewing scissors.
Home Sweet Home key fob is offered at $22 plus shipping.

My next offering this month is Spring Lily Pinkeep ~ based on a lovely design by Jenny Hoffman of Country Rustic Primitives. I love Lilies of the Valley and they usually bloom in May here on Winding Vine, but this year I am thinking they will be quite delayed as the sprouts are barely appearing. This cross-stitched piece on blue hand dyed linen is backed with the same green and tan checked flannel as appears on the front. It is accented with vintage baby cream rick rack and a little vintage skate key attached with a corsage pin. It is filled with crushed walnut shells for a nice weight. As with all of my creations, it is completely hand stitched. It measures approximately 3 ½ by 4 inches.
Spring Lily Pinkeep is offered at $22 plus shipping.

I discovered a sweet vintage seasonal embroidery at an estate sale some time ago. With it, I created a pinkeep to celebrate Spring. It is backed with a vintage cotton print fabric from the same era. It is completely hand sewn and filled with clean sawdust for a wonderful vintage feel. Vintage Spring Pinkeep measures 4 by 6 inches.
~*Sold. Thank you ever so much!*~
