Valentine's Day

design in progress by Nan Lewis of Threadwork Primitives

Wishing you a Happy Valentines Day!

Several of you so kindly asked for me to show you my mantle each month.
Do you follow Mugwump Woolies blog? Well, Robyn has a beautiful, inspiring blog where she does an exquisite post each month of her kitchen window. You can see her February window here. My decorating is nowhere near her monthly loveliness, but I will share my humble fireplace nevertheless :)

The three framed valentines are by Lana Manis of Honeysuckle Lane as is the sweet paper flower on the right.

The hearts on my foot warmer and primitive antique carved box are right in theme.

My tiny antique document boxes are accented for the season with...

Two incredible papercuttings in antique frames by Beth Twist of Heartstring Samplery.
This picture does not do them justice, they are so perfectly aged and could pass for antiques...

What is Valentine's Day without a few antique Valentines...

And a pincushion made in a class with Maggie Bonanomi years ago...

And a table runner from the Maggie Bonanomi Girl's Club with Country Sampler a few years back.

I was so excited to find an unexpected package in the mail today!

I almost didn't want to open this sweet little package!
Don't you just love the sweet button and actual sewing pattern as wrapping paper? The card is so pretty.

Inside was this sweet paper garland from my dear friend Wendy!
Thank you ever so much Wendy for brightening my day!
Oh dear, not sure why it is upside down, but you get the idea. I'm afraid it is too late at night to wrestle the photo around.

Thank you for sticking with this long post!
I am thinking that it is time for another giveaway. Stay tuned and I will be posting about it soon.

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

A Birthday Giveaway

Happy Birthday to me this past week,
but it is you that may win the gift!

This giveaway is being sponsored by a very talented artist, Lana Manis.

Lana and I met online several years ago as I am a fan and collector of her work.
She works in many mediums and many styles and has been featured in several magazines including the Early American Life Directory of Traditional American Crafts.
Lana is also a very supportive individual and played a key role in helping me take the plunge into the blogging world and joining TDIPT Mercantile over 5 years ago.

You can learn more about Lana by following her on her blog or visiting her on facebook.

Lana has been kind enough to offer one of her art prints to a reader of my blog.
You will be able to choose the art print of your choice and Lana will send it directly to you.
This giveaway will be open to shipping in the U.S. only.

As always, this giveaway is open to bloggers and non-bloggers alike.
Simple comment on this post or email me at pgagliardi9@hotmail.com with "Lana Manis Giveaway" in the subject line.
Now, here is the hard part ~ you will need to go to Lana's Etsy shop (click here) and pick the art print that you would like to win. In your comment or email, tell me the name of the art print that you will select if you are the winner.

I have been showing many of her floral art prints as they are really speaking to me today, but she also has abstracts, mixed media collage prints, and lovely words to live by.
They may not be primitive, but I think their wonderful folk art quality, subtle neutrals and pops of color would look right at home in any decor.
Now, how to decide...

I will be posting a winner on Saturday, August 17
Good luck!

Blessings, Patti
p.s. Oh my goodness gracious! As I posted this I just realized that this is my 400th post! Another reason to celebrate :) I am not sure how I found 400 things to talk about, but I guess I must be a chatty person :)

A Happy Valentine's Day!

Aren't these love birds beautiful?
The talented Mindy Raymond was so sweet to make them for me after I spent a bit of time coveting them from her wonderful blog ;)
The paper that she used is photocopies of her great great grandmother's journal ~ isn't that special?! Be sure to visit her blog ~ she is a prolific wool applique artist with a beautiful prim home!

I thought I would share a few of my Valentine decorations today...

Love the beautiful faded colors of these antique Valentines.

These are notecards made by the uber talented Lana Manis of Honeysuckle Lane and Simple Joys Paperie. I bought them a few years ago, with the intention of using them, but they are so beautiful, that I decided that I had to frame them and keep them for my very own...

I found this beautiful antique shirt cuff and incorporated it into my wool applique...

Sending each one of you love!
And wishing you a Happy Valentines Day!
Blessings, Patti
