Work in Progress

"Valentine Vase"
by Winding Vine Designs
Last post I showed you some wools that I was working with...
This is the finished piece.
I wanted to do a Valentine's Day wool applique, but couldn't find a pattern for what I was looking for... so I had to sketch out my own design :)
We've received about another 4 inches of snow since the blizzard and now are in a deep freeze for the week. Mostly we are below zero with highs in the single digits, so I needed something to warm my heart!

I received this great package in the mail from Country Sampler.
Maggie's new book, Stacy Nash's club kit and some great wools (love the striped wool on the far right!) and ribbons.
Maggie's Book of Days seems like a daunting project, but I am thinking of just working on one month at a time. (Do February now, and March in March, etc.) Then after a year it would be all done...

Now I have a quandry...
Do I keep working on this Heartstring Samplery piece?
Or do I start Stacy Nash's club kit in hopes of having it done for Valentine's Day?
Such tough decisions!
"Lead us to listen,
to hear the heart speak.
O God in the quiet voice
draw us to you."

  1. Well, if it can be done in time, I would be tempted to do the valentine first. I had some I didn't get to finish for christmas, so I set them aside and will do them later in the year, so they are done in time.

And second thanks for the link to Country Sampler - I didn't know of it
and thought it was Country Sampler magazine you meant!! I just visited their online store and am wowed by their selection - how I'd LOVE to visit in person!
I might be tempted - very much so!! - to do the Stacy Nash Valentine pinkeep!
Enjoy all your lovely wools too!

  3. Your wool applique is beautiful! I rec'd Maggie's new book the other day as well. It does look time consuming for sure. I'm not sure I'll ever get it done, but I still have her book for inspiration. My Stacy kit hasn't arrived yet... maybe today. Then I may have to set projects aside to stitch it up too.

  6. Hi Patti! Love your latest wool applique. Darling hearts. I just finished Maggie's club offering, 'hearts runner'. It seems I'm always a year or two behind. I'm working this year to stay current with the projects- so, I'm putting aside the Blackbird girls applique from B&B to work on Stacy's little valentine pillow. I got Maggie's newest kit (the book of days) too. I love your idea of working on a page a month. It does look pretty intense- Let me know how yours goes. Hugs, Carla in Fargo

  7. Love the Valentine piece that you did, very pretty! I always try and make myself finish one project before I start another. Doesn't always happen but I always try!
