A Prairie Schooler Year ~ August

I am always so happy to pull out my August Prairie Schooler finishes from over the years!

This one was stitched way back in 1999 and I still love it!
I wish that I could still stitch "over one"...
I love how her designs pack so much in - so much to see in each and every detail!

Another tiny "over one" finish - the stork scissors give you some proportion as to how small it is.

For this one, I pulled out my favorite motifs from a much larger piece.

 Her designs never age.

Such a way with the shading of colors!
So many wonderful garden themed designs - perfect for August!

I stitched this one 21 years ago! I always display it with this little birdhouse.

I just love those sunflowers and especially the red winged blackbirds!
I don't want to rush time, but I can't wait to share my absolute favorite Prairie Schooler piece in September!

For none of us lives for ourselves alone, and none of us dies for ourselves alone.
If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord.
So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.
~Romans 14:7-8

A Prairie Schooler Year ~ June & July

Gosh, time is flying by so fast that I forgot to post for June! So here is June and July...

I love how easily Prairie Schooler designs can "prim" up.
I sold these two fobs a few years ago and am thinking that I may need to stitch them up again for myself ;)

An oldie, but goodie

And another that I stitched way back in the day.

These two pillows are very special to me!
My mom stitched them for my birthday way back in 1989!

Isn't Uncle Sam wonderful?

And Lady Liberty, too.
Treasures still...

"Blessed are those who keep his statutes
and seek him with all their heart"

A Prairie Schooler Year ~ May

My year of Prairie Schooler finishes from over the years continues.
And time just keeps slipping by...

Completed during my "over one" stitching period...

Stitched way back when and I still enjoy it...

Another over one stitchery. This little fob is one of my favorites.

I love the detail and shading in this Canadian Goose.
The fob is two sided and here is the other side:

Can't decide which side I like better!

already this fob is 15 years old...

and this isn't a Prairie Schooler, but I just had to share this favorite for Memorial Day:

Design is a freebie from Plum Street Samplers.

'When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
In God, whose word I praise—
in God I trust and am not afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?'
Psalm 56:3-4

A Prairie Schooler Year ~ April

My year of Prairie Schooler finishes from over the years continues.
Time for April as the month is quickly coming to a close...

I made these two as a set.

A pincushion

And a key fob.

Robins are a favorite bird of mine.
Stitched over one on 22 count.
I added eyelet stitches for the flowers.

An oldie for sure. April showers always make me think of ducks :)

Stitched over one, this made a sweet scissor fob.

Another finish from my over one days :)

I'm looking forward to pulling out my Prairie Schooler May finishes soon!

You were set free from an empty way of life. This way of life was handed down to you by your own people of long ago. You know that you were not bought with things that can pass away, like silver or gold. Instead, you were bought with the priceless blood of Christ. He is a perfect lamb. He doesn’t have any flaws at all.

A Prairie Schooler Year ~ March

My year of Prairie Schooler finishes from over the years continues...
I have several for March, but I think that this is my favorite!
I'm always so happy to see it each March 1st.

I softened it up a bit using one thread over two on 28 count linen and tea dying after I finished it.

And I added little "x's" to the seams.

This similar design I stitched a decade or two (or more) ago...

A favorite Easter piece with coordinating rick rack along the seam.

Another stitch from many years ago in my "over one" days when my eyesight was better.

Here you can get some perspective of the size.

This scissor fob was stitched over one on 22 count.

It's been fun when I pull out each month's decorations, to dig through and find my Prairie Schooler favorites from over the years... So many memories tied up in the stitching :)
"The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake."
~Psalm 23:1-3

Prairie Schooler ~ February

Well some months I will have more Prairie Schooler finishes to share than others.
I guess I'll have to go through my patterns and find more "February" related Prairie Schooler designs to stitch :)

I finished Abe and George last year on President's Day and was happy to bring them out again this month. I "primmed" them up and was happy with how they turned out.
(from Book #160 "February")

I finished these many, many years ago and they still come out each year...

That's it for February, I'm wondering what I have for March...

"I love you, Lord, my strength.
The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold."
~Psalm 18:1-2

New Monthly Blog Post Series ~ 2016

For the past two years, I've had a monthly blog post series.
In 2014, I blogged each month about how I decorated my mantle.
You can view my mantle posts here.
In 2015, I blogged about a few Buttermilk Basin series that I was working on.
My year of Basin Banners are shown above.

For 2016, I've decided to celebrate my all time favorite cross stitcher designer,
Prairie Schooler, in honor of their retirement.
I've been stitching since 1986 and have stitched Prairie Schooler designs on and off all through those years... I love their versatility and wonderful graphic nature.

The first Prairie Schooler finish that I would like to share isn't even mine!

It was stitched by Mom!

Mom stitched it to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and it has hung in our house ever since (and it always will!)
A true work of love.

Thanks Mom! Know that 30 years later, I still love this piece!

So here are my January Prairie Schooler finishes:

Wouldn't you like to move into this cozy cabin and do some stitching by a cracking fire?

Stitched over one back in 2002.

A little ornament that I bring out every January instead of hanging it on my Christmas Tree.

And my favorite little Winter scissor fob stitched over one in 2003 (when my vision was better lol).
The ribbon has seen better days, now that I look at it...

And I have decided that if we get a snow day in Chicago this winter,
this is what I would start to stitch that day...

Wouldn't that be perfect?! One can only hope... :)

Now I'm wondering what Prairie Schooler finishes I will find when I pull out my February decorations...

Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”
~James 4:14-15
