A few months back, I shared my Mom's first penny rug.
You can see it here.
Mom has taken to penny rugs like a duck to water and has been stitching like crazy ever since.
When my sister and I went down for a visit for our parents' 55th wedding anniversary,
Mom gave a show and tell that took our breath away!
I'm sooo lucky to be her daughter and to be gifted with this great piece!
She didn't like it as it was only her second piece and she said that I could pitch it, if I wanted.
Are you crazy?!?! I absolutely adore this penny rug! The colors are perfect and I love how the pennies spill over the edges.
It lives here now on a little leather ottoman in my living room :)
Next Mom tried blanket stitching and found that she really enjoyed it.
This mat she made for my sister, who was also thrilled.
My mom had asked me to send her some wool to match her sunroom.
And next she created this:
Such pretty, soft colors that looks great with
her chair cushions and swan.
Since Mom wasn't happy with the first mat she made, she created another one for me:
Aren't I lucky!
Next up was a mat for her table of Longaberger shaker baskets - perfection!
Here is a close up of the mat.
For Mother's Day, I sent Mom a wool penny kit.
She stitched it right up.
As she has stitched, she has grown in confidence and in trying new ideas and concepts.
Isn't this piece awesome?!
I love the colors and the concept!
Mom's stitches are so perfect.
And Mom's grand finale.
We all laughed that it was like a fireworks show - each penny rug that Mom pulled out we ooohed and aaahed!
I know that Mom has still been stitching away, I get updates when she starts and finishes a project.
I think she has been bitten by the wool bug! She now even has more than one project going at once. And is planning the next project while working on another LOL.
It's so fun to have a Mom passionate about wool!
Mom, I can't wait for my visit this autumn and to see your next show and tell!
(And Dad you are sure a good sport about Mom's wool addiction :)
"Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
my body also will rest secure,
because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead,
nor will you let your faithful one see decay."
~Psalm 16:9-10

ReplyDeleteShe has made a lot of beautiful penny rugs. They are fun to make and a great way to use up small pieces of wool.
