When December arrives, my iPod, CD's and radio are all tuned to holiday music all the time. Since I only listen to it for the month of December, it always seems like way to soon the time is over and it is gone again. I probably should not admit to this, but I have 612 holiday songs on my iPod. One and a half days of music without listening to the same song twice.
I love the traditional favorites - Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and Michael Buble. I also like music of all genres from George Winston's "Holly & the Ivy" to Bare Naked Ladies & Sarah MacLachlan's "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" to Kanye West's "Christmas in Harlem".
Each year I try to find a new CD to add to my collection. Last year I found my new favorite from Beth Twist's Heartstring Samplery blog - Dave Barnes' "Very Merry Christmas". Now I am looking for a new favorite for this year and would love to hear what your favorite CD is.
Please leave a comment on this post or drop me an email at pgagliardi9@hotmail.com with your favorite song/CD and I'll enter you in my Christmas giveaway.
This giveaway includes: a $20 Winding Vine Designs giftcard for use in my Etsy shop or on my TDIPT Mercantile page, a little giftcard pouch that I knitted and felted, a prim reindeer, a sweet little star pot ornament with a little battery powered candle inside (created by my SIL Joy of Joyfully Yours) and a Blessings tag/ornament also created by Joy.
I'll draw a name next Saturday and hopefully your package will arrive before Christmas.
I can't wait to hear about your favorites!
"In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!”
~Luke 1:42-45

ReplyDeleteA blessed Christmas Season to you, Patti! My very favorite Christmas CD is by "Jewel" and is called "Joy-A Holiday Collection". It features lots of traditional hymns sung in her lovely, soft voice. I love Jewel's version of "O Holy Night" and also a beautiful song called "Face of Love". I think I bought this CD at Walgreens, of all places. :) You can listen to samples of the songs on Amazon.

Hi Patti,
ReplyDeleteI have several favorite CD's this time of year but my most favorite is "A New Age Christmas 3" I bought it several years ago for $5.00 at Kmart. It is from 1998, St. Clair Entertainment Group.
It is so calming and tranquil and delightful to have as background music. It's such a pleasure to listen to it during this rushed and busy season. Very relaxing music!
Hi Patti~
ReplyDeleteI have to say my current favorite Christmas CD is Christmas Eve & Other Stories by Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
Have a wonderful evening~Becky
I was blog hopping tonight and noticed the deer in a sidebar, what a wonderful piece. My favorite is "The Animals Christmas", with Amy Grant and Art Garfunkel.
ReplyDeleteDebbie
Patti, you are SO not alone in your obsession! But I think you already know that...
ReplyDeleteI haven't found any brand new Christmas albums this year, but am really hankering to get the 2010 release by Casting Crowns. For now, I am still listening to Dave Barnes a LOT, and also enjoying one downloaded last year by Jars of Clay. Oh, and I have dusted off an old favorite from 1992, Russ Taff, A Christmas Song. Yep. Oldie, but goodie. Otherwise, its an ongoing shuffle mix of Ella, Louis, Bing, Harry, Trans-Siberian, and a Pandora station that I have cultivated within an inch of its life. ;)
Hi Patty, a very good morning from The Netherlands to you.
ReplyDeleteI always listen to http://radioplayer.omroep.nl/radio5/ (radio nostalgia)
And they play a lot of old Christmas songs.
;o)
I would have to say that my very very favorite Christmas song is O Holy Night. It brings tears to my eyes each time I hear it. There are so many more I enjoy but that is definitely my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm a country girl. I Love Alan Jackson's Christmas CD and I just picked up Brad Paisley's Christmas CD.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful Giveaway! I would Love to be entered.

My favorite Christmas music is "Carol of the Bells". So, a few years ago I sorted through iTunes' offerings to find the best (IMO) version. It is by the St. Olaf Choir from their CD "O Yule Full of Gladness", which seems to be really expensive on amazon.
ReplyDeleteMarc's favorite is "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen", and the album from which it comes IS available:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0017KQ4EI/ref=dm_sp_alb?ie=UTF8&qid=1323907333&sr=8-1
If you already have so many days w/o repeat, these might already be there, but... These are some beautiful classic Christmas Choir recordings that you just don't hear on the radio or in the shops anymore.
I love Christmas music too! One of my faves is the soundtrack from Home Alone.
ReplyDeleteLove your give-away enter me please!
