can't help myself

"Early Alphabet Pinkeep"
design by Stacy Nash Primitives
Country Sampler Club Kit
When I start a project with a pattern, I always intend to follow the pattern. But something happens along the way... sometimes I make it larger or smaller, sometimes I change a color, sometimes I add/delete/change a motif. I don't plan on it it just sort of... happens. I can't help myself. Somehow the urn of berries became an urn of acorns and an oak leaf. Bees appeared by the letter "B". The dog grew longer (that might have something to do with the dachshund on my lap.) A color changed. I guess it is just a part of the creative process. I love the original, that's why I decided to stitch it in the first place. It just somehow slightly morphs thru my needle... You can see the original on Country Sampler's website here.
There are a few more days to enter my latest giveaway. Click here if you would like to enter. I am hoping to add a few more items to my Etsy shop before the giveaway, so that the winner has a good selection to choose from. It's homecoming weekend at my son's high school (and my alma mater). The football game is Friday night and I figure I'll have plenty of time to draw the winner Saturday night while waiting for him to return from the dance...
Have a lovely early autumn weekend!
Blessings, Patti

  1. I'm a HUGE Stacy Nash fan, Patti - and love this pattern/design just like all of the rest of hers...but I am so loving how you changed it up....I think the B truly needed some bees....and the color is awesome (as are the acorns and oak leaves!!) I think even Stacy would approve!! Have fun with homecoming!! Miss those days! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

  6. It is beautiful. I have never been known to truly follow a pattern on anything! Such is my way, intentional or not! Hope you have a great weekend!

  7. Patti - I love your Stacy Nash piece. I have stitched this and am planning to finish it similar to one of the Pine Mountain pillows- I got a toasty fabric for the pillow and some black fabric to make the stitching into a tube - now I just need some time at the sewing machine to pull it all together. The only change I made was to stitch my initials in different colors. Hope to be able to finish it next week as we are on vacation right now.
