Boxwood and Berries ~ Day 1 Part 2

Oh my goodness! I posted so late at night that I realized later that I forgot half the day! On Day 1, we also worked on this sweet cross stitch piece by Blackbird Designs ~ I love the colors they are so soft and muted.
I decided that this piece will be perfect for commemorating a special prize that my husband and I won this summer ~ our town's beautification award for the landscaping and curb appeal of our home. I think I'll add the name of our town instead of my name...

There was also a little farmer's market across the street from the shop. Everything was arranged so beautifully that Kim and I couldn't resist taking photos.

I love the way the sun lit up these carrots!

I couldn't resist having my photo taken with Barb and Alma ~ thanks ladies!

I've gotten a start on my piece, but haven't made much progress. I think that this will be my train project next week. Barb and Alma were so kind to give each of us this little stitcher's journal. It was perfect for taking notes in class, recording the emails of new friends, and jotting down recommendations for music, books and movies (Thanks Nicki!)
I have big plans for this little book... stay tuned ;)

  1. Wow really gorgeous piece!!! The BBD ladies are wonderful, just love them both. Can't wait for their book with all the class pieces to come out. I've taken 4 classes with them :-).

Congrats on the award for your landscaping, too.

  4. Oh what a beautiful piece your working on. Congratulations on winning the landscape award. How nice to feel noticed. Good thing our town doesn't do that. I'd win the "most weeds" award lol!

I finally bought one of Maggie Bonanomi's books "With These Hands" You had planted that seed in my head a while ago and I finally got around to it! Now I need another....do you have a favorite?

    Love the carrots also!

Sending warm hugs and happy thoughts ~ Jenn xoxo

  5. Hi Jenn!
Aren't Maggie's books just incredible?! Even if you don't make anything in them, I love to look at the photos. There is a new one in the works...
It's hard to pick a next favorite, but if I had to I guess it would be Nature's Offerings - I love anything seasonal and this one covers the four seasons. Maggie had a trunk show with her projects from Comfort Zone and they were lovely, too. I'll be blogging about it soon. Speaking of which, I better go blog about Day 2 ;)

  6. I have just enjoyed following your fun stitching at your retreat and feeling a little envy as I wasn't able to attend. Of course I didn't know about it either but it just looks like you had so much fun. I love the Jingle pinkeep and the needle sausage roll. The pin keep is proably my favorite along with the sampler too. Oh Heck I love em all.
    Love your blog too
