Happy Easter!

“Mr. Bunn’s Garden”
Design by Maggie Bonanomi
For Maggie’s Club at Country Sampler in Spring Green, Wisconsin

Finished just in time!
I tweaked the flowers to be my favorites - daffodils.

“Holiday Hoopla - Easter”

Another finish for Easter ☺️

I thought I’d share a few other favorite vignettes

A favorite design by Rebekah L. Smith

Some favorite Schneeman creations.

And my Rae Dunn Easter collection is growing 😉

Wishing you and your family a blessed Easter!

Happy Halloween!

Leia and I wish you a Happy Halloween!

This Rae Dunn mug is perfect for my house - it looks like Leia dressed up as a vampire :)

"Witches Night Out"
by With Thy Needle and Thread

my latest Halloween finish!

I had to have this Rae Dunn mug too ;)

My favorite Halloween shelf.
The little silhouette in the upper left corner is an antique from 1913.
The Spells pillow on the bottom shelf is an original from Stacy Nash from 2007.

"The Goode Stitching Witch"
This was a Stacy Nash kit from a few years back.
I just bought the black strawberry waxer that Stacy's daughter Taylor made and I think it looks perfect with this sewing tray!

It looks sweet with a few antique sewing tools.

And here is the full vignette.

Here is an oldy but goody by Blackbird Designs.

The linen color is truer in the first picture, but here you can see the frame better.

Another Blackbird Design from the same book, stitched in the same year.

and a teeny tiny vignette with a piece I stitched even longer ago.
The black spool of  thread is just a regular size spool to give you an idea of the scale.
This was back in the day when I stitched everything over one.

and my favorite Schneeman Folk Art pumpkin head doll sitting amongst some antiques.
He makes me smile!

Well here in Chicago we are having a cold Halloween with up to 6 inches of snow in the forecast.
I guess if we don't get many trick or treaters, we'll just have to eat the candy ourselves ;)

Happy Halloween!

and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry
and satisfy the needs of the oppressed,
then your light will rise in the darkness,
and your night will become like the noonday.

Antiques that followed us home

Time has once again escaped me!
I still have to share more of my trip earlier this month to Mom's and the wonderful antiques that we found.
These were Mom's purchases on our first day. The puzzle ball was from Maggie Bonanomi.
But you really need to see the tiny boot pinkeep close up!

The workmanship and teeny tiny stitches are amazing!

I tried to show the perspective of how tiny it is, but it is rather hard to capture.

Mom bought these treasures from Schneeman Folk Art.
Perfect for a Christmas display!

And Mom found another puzzle ball! I think she is now a collector!
Love the antique bone buttons on this one from Jacque Bradford.

I also bought an antique puzzle ball from Maggie.
I loved the stitching and the little nubs of velvet that remain.

I bought this cornucopia made by Maggie - perfect with antique velvet, oak leaves and acorns.

And another teeny tiny treasure - a little leather doll shoe made into a velvet pinkeep.

This bird by Ginny Henson also followed me home.
I love the embroidered linsy woolsy wings

and the wonderful breast fabric too.

In Norma and Jennifer Schneeman's booth, I bought this wonderful make do bird that started as a spun cotton antique ornament from Japan that was not in good condition.
But Jennifer used her magic and repurposed it.
Can you see the tiny original wire legs?

Aren't the paper embossed wings and tail stunning?!

And a Schneeman gingerbread heart for my Schneeman Christmas tree.

I also couldn't pass up this matched set of measures!

Both of them are embossed with the same maker, city and state.

I also bought this wonderful shoe accented with old ribbon.
While the shoe is darling, the presentation was awesome:

It will be hanging with a spray of greens on my front door this holiday season. :)

This pincushion has been calling to me the past several shows and this time I couldn't resist.

I may need to try and replicate it...

And finally my last purchase of the trip:

My home's furniture fits our house's architecture is mainly prairie / mission / arts + crafts style with a few treasured pieces of Stickley. So I couldn't resist this bookshelf.
I love the drawers and

the side pockets - wouldn't they look so pretty filled with greens for the holidays?
Once I clean it up and decide where to display it, I will have to share.

Thank goodness these shows are only twice a year!
I better start saving my pennies for the March shows...

Thanks for letting me share our shopping with you!
I'll try to be back soon with all of Mom's recent wool finishes.

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

A Plethora of Primitives

When Mom and I went to the central Illinois Primitive Shows, our first stop was the awe inspiring booth of Maggie Bonanomi.

Isn't this display simply gorgeous?!

I fell in love with this sweet single shoe, but I restrained myself.

It's so hard to decide where to look first!

Maggie has such a knack for creating lovely displays.

Loved the color and especially the shape of this pumpkin.
After Maggie's booth and a look at the other dealers at this Rural Life location, we had to head over another Rural Life location to see:

Ginny Henson and her wonderful antiques and creations.

Her folk art animals and angels look great displayed with primitive antiques.

So sweet!

So many wonderful textures.

A lovely angel with architectural wings.

I loved this pair of elephants!

Mom and I were so delighted to meet Norma and Jennifer Schneeman in person at
Homesteaders on the Prairie.
I've been collecting their work for years, and they were as lovely in person as they are in correspondence. There booth was very busy, so I didn't get any photos, except for this one:

I just love the old calligraphy on the these wonderful feedsacks.
Beth Pulsipher also had a wonderful booth at this show, but alas no pictures.
We were there when it opened and it was very crowded.

Mom and I also went to A Gathering on the Prairie and enjoyed the lovely booth of Jacque Bradford.

Mom and I both found many treasures and I'll share as soon as I take some photos of mine.
I also was able to take pictures of all of Mom's lastest wool finishes. Lots more to come!

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
