My second stop on my one day shop hop around San Diego was Temecula Quilt Co.
Another shop on my bucket list...
Once again as I walked in the door my hear began to pound!
Of course this wool corner caught my immediately and drew me like a magnet.
I found myself being drawn from lovely vignette to lovely vignette.
I think that this was the cleanest and most organized quilt shop that I have ever seen!
I loved how all the notions were stored in mason jars of all different sizes - tucked away and dust free, but still so easy to see and locate.
Not one but three featherweight machines - oh my!
Isn't this lovely?!
After following the Temecula blog and Facebook page for some time,
each quilt model was so "Temecula" - instantly identifiable with the stunning small scale reproduction fabrics.
Pictures don't do these quilts justice - they are even more stunning in person!
This "Dear Jane" quilt looked like it belonged in a museum.
I wish that I had taken some photos of the shop itself to give you the big picture. But when you are there and overwhelmed by beauty, it is hard to think straight!
Sheryl Johnson is so kind and welcoming and the gals that I met while shopping were sweet as well.
Once again, I didn't want to leave, but more shops were calling...

My next stop quite amused me: Primitive Gatherings in Murietta, CA.
Here I am living near the border of Wisconsin, but I have never visited Primitive Gatherings in Menasha, WI. Instead I visited the California shop first! Who would have thought?!
It is just like their website and quilt show booths, but on a MUCH LARGER scale - this shop is huge!
Almost on the verge of being overwhelming, but there can't be too much of a good thing, can there? ;)
I think that everyone knows where to find Primitive Gatherings Wisconsin, but
their California shop website is here.
the blog for both shops is here.
the California Facebook page is here.
While shopping here, I found myself being even more indecisive than usual. That's when I realized that I better get some lunch.
Luckily there was an In-N-Out burger close by.
My sons fell in love with In-N-Out the last time we were in California, so of course I had to text them a picture to make them jealous ;)
I thought it was interesting when not one but two employees asked whether I was eating in my car?
Of course I was - I still had two more shops to stop at!!!
Well, let me just say that this is the smartest fast food chain ever!
First they give you a paper place mat and then your meal is given to you in any easily accessible cardboard tray - genius! And delicious lol! Wish they had locations in the midwest...
My next stop was a recommendation of several ladies along my journey.
I am so glad that they suggested it!
Grand Country Quilters in San Marcos, CA.
What a fun shop with lovely ladies!
Don't you love their sign made out of license plates?!
And they had a lovely wool section as well.
Such a fun shop with so much to see!
And again I had so much fun visiting with the ladies here as well and seeing some beautiful projects in process.
You can find Grand Country Quilters:
Their website is here.
Their Facebook page is here.
At this point I was beginning to get worn out, but there was one more stop that I had to make before calling it a day! I'll be back with that one shortly...
Blessings, Patti
ReplyDeleteMy local quilt shops are Temecula Quilt Co. and Primitive Gatherings. How lucky can you get. Glad that you enjoyed both.
However, having moved from a Chicago suburb, I still love the WI stores that you often blog about. I still get to go back once in a while so that is fun.

I was also amazed by the organization of Trmeculs Quilte. Love In and Out burgers whenever I get a chance.
ReplyDeleteThe next two shops are on my bucket list, PG wasn't there the last time I went to San Diego and Big Country Quilts has only recently been on my radar.
Thanks for the lovely pictures.
i have been to primitive gatherings in menasha a few times and that shop is very small compared to the large one in cal. however it is wonderful also
ReplyDeleteI am sooooooooooo jealous. Wish I was with you.
ReplyDeleteThank you, thank you, thank you for taking us along on your travels! The two shops I most want to visit are The Country Loft and Temecula. I did the Summer Sampler they offered this summer, and totally enjoyed it (and, I FINISHED it!). Thanks, Patti, for your blog, I look forward to each and every post.
ReplyDeleteWOW! I think I would have been overwhelmed and my wallet empty! If I lived closer I would surely be checking out Primitive Gatherings. We have Cook-Out in my neck of the woods very similar to In and Out
ReplyDeleteI love traveling with you! Terry
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing these visits with us...can't believe you fit them all in during one day...
ReplyDeleteThat's quite a few quilt shops in such close proximity. They all looked wonderful!
ReplyDeleteMy California son raves about In and Out Burgers and we've dined there (or is it eaten...lol) when we've been out there. Sorry to say I much prefer Five Guys.
Thanks for taking us along.
Hugs :)
Lauren
Looks like you got to visit some great shops.
