Torn...

I'm torn...
Thanksgiving is over and Christmas is quickly approaching.
I really want to continue working on my abbreviated Turkey Hollow by Stacy Nash,
but my Christmas stitching season is here...

Now that I have a turkey completed, he keeps telling me not to put him aside...

And then there is this:

Maggie Bonanomi's latest club kit!
It was perfect for the three hour car ride to my parents' house for Thanksgiving.
I'm so close - should I keep on going and finish it up?
The Boxwood & Berries project is calling me back.
So hard to decide! Decisions, decisions...

Many of you asked about the stapling method that I have started using.
It was great for the car. I just use a regular stapler and roll the wool up to get to the center.
I did put a long arm stapler on my Christmas list.

After I stitch an area,

Then I go back and bend the staple in half with my finger nail

Then the staple pops right out.

I took the tiny tin box that I just bought at the primitives show.
I put a magnet sheet in the bottom of the box and am using it for my used up staples.
This way I won't accidentally spill them all over.

Well, I don't think there will be much stitching today as I am trying to finish decorating for Christmas.
Back to work tomorrow and time is ticking... tick tock!

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
~Colossians 2:6-7

Blessings, Patti

  1. Patti, I have faced the same dilemma, so I've been alternating. I work on one piece (right now . . . Stacy's Miss Baxter's House), for one week, and then Land of the Free),for a week. I started this about a year ago, and I like it. When I first began, I alternated between a large project and a smaller one -- I finished three smalls and one large (all from Brenda Gervais), and I think I prefer the small/large best. For me, this method works well. I very much appreciate how you alter designs for your needs and likes, and frequently I much prefer what you have done over the original design. I've learned a lot from you. Love your blog, and thank you for sharing the pictures of your travels -- your blog is never boring! Have a happy, healthy, and joyful Christmas and New Year.

  9. Hi Patti,
I love all of your projects! I love working on things in season also. If I'm really close to finishing one I try to get it done... so am usually working on three or four things at once! Drives me crazy!!
I eyed that stapler too... looks like it might be a vintage one? I need a long arm stapler and will be on the hunt for one now... do you know of a source?
    Happy decorating!!
    Hugs!

  10. I think that I'm in the minority here :-) when I say that you shouldn't feel guilty to move on to another project. The Maggie Boxwood and Berries is so stunning. It looks like she mixed in some linen with the wool. Love all the photos that you share. Mouse

  12. Thanks for the stapler tip! I just opened my MB kit last night and now I know how to keep bits of wool from flying all over the place..... or keeping them from busy kitty paws.

  13. I feel the same and have found I need to stick with it, when I lay them aside I might not pick it back up.
I like the way your staple technique is looking, I will have to try it.
    Both your projects are lovely!
